The range is not working at all.

  • Possible Problems :
    • No power reaching the range.
  • Possible solutions :
    • Check the fuse box/circuit breaker.

One of the top elements doesn’t heat.

  • Possible Problems :
    • Defective element, wiring, terminal block or switch.
  • Possible solutions :
    • Check each element.
    • Call for service.

A top element doesn’t cook well.

  • Possible Problems :
    • Wrong sized pan.
    • Damaged element.
    • Defective element, wiring, thermostat or selector switch.
  • Possible solutions :
    • Use flat-bottomed pans that just cover the element.
    • Replace the element.
    • Call for service.

You can’t get the oven to heat.

  • Possible Problems :
    • The oven is in its self-cleaning cycle.
    • The oven is in Auto mode.
  • Possible solutions :
    • Reread the instructions and reset it.
    • Change clock to manual mode.

Unreliable Oven Temperature

  • Unreliable oven temperature is a common complaint. The thermostat that maintains oven temperature is part of the oven control. If the thermostat fails, have the entire control replaced.
  • To gauge the problem, place an accurate oven thermometer in the center of a 180 degree oven.
  • After 20 minutes, check the reading.
  • If it’s more than 10% too high or too low,Call for service.

The oven doesn’t hold the temperature you set.

  • Possible Problems :
    • Damaged door gasket.
    • Thermostat is faulty.
  • Possible solutions :
    • Replace the gasket where possible
    • Call for service.

The timer doesn’t work.

  • Possible Problems :
    • Loose connections.
    • Damaged timer.
  • Possible solutions :
    • Check the instructions and reset it.
    • Call for service.

The oven door won’t stay shut.

  • Possible Problems :
    • Defective hinge or spring.
  • Possible solutions :
    • Replace the defective hinge or spring.

Condensation forms inside the oven.

  • Possible Problems :
    • Clogged vent.
    • The door doesn’t close properly.
    • The oven doesn’t preheat properly.
  • Possible solutions :
    • Clean the vent. If there is an air filter, clean or replace it.
    • Check the gasket and door hinge springs.
    • Preheat the oven with the door ajar.
